Tragedy of the Horizons

Tragedy of the Horizons is a short film essay and
experimental documentary exploring the history of standardized time. Taking its
starting point from the division of the world into 24 time zones in 1884, the film
creates unexpected links between the politics of time, economic theory, and the
nature of cinema itself. Featuring Dr Michelle Bastian, a professor in critical
time studies at the University of Edinburgh, and shot across two different time
zones – Tragedy of the Horizons is a meditative and disorientating deep dive
into the dense and problematic construction of modern homogeneous time.
